Solderability Testing:
Solderability tests are done using state of the art wetting balance technology, not the old “dip & look” test. This is a much more precise and controlled method, that produces reliable results.
As an added feature that has proven invaluable to many of our customers, we can reproduce any customer’s environment by testing with same temperature profile. As in the customer’s production line, as well as using the same flux and soldering alloy (fluxes can be extracted from soldering paste if no equivalent flux is found).
Wave soldering and Reflow Soldering Profiles can be used with the following variations:
- Ramp Up rate during preheat
- Preheat Temperature and time
- Soaking Temperature
- Dwell time during Soaking
- Ramp Up rate during reflow
- Peak Temperature during reflow and time
- Cooling Ramp Down rate will be needed by our lab
Many times a laboratory can declare a part passes Solderability, but it is in their particular environment. When the parts are in production at a plant, in a different environment, they might not necessarily solder. This could be a very costly situation, literally causing line down situations. DT-Labs’ exceptional standards and service can completely avoid such a detrimental situation.
ADVANTAGES TO DT-LABS SOLDERABILITY TESTING:
- Measure capillary forces
- Wetting curves for better analysis of data
- Gives information on wetting time and amount of soldering alloy accumulated on material
- Flux efficiency
- Quality of soldering alloys
- MIL, DIN, JIL, IPC standards supported
- Determine surface tension
- Reliable and repeatable results
- Cost effective
